Technology Apprentice in Buffalo, NY

Overview

Takes part in training programs run by the Tech Academy, built to develop entry-level technical skills across several technology disciplines. Learns the base technology the team uses, including operating systems, software systems, and related procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Complete a comprehensive training program to build entry-level technical skills in a specific discipline such as Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, or Data & Analytics.
• Work alongside a mentor on on-the-job training over a set period to understand the discipline more broadly, how specific technologies are used at the Bank, and how they work together to deliver solutions and services to internal and external customers.
• Shadow team members during project work and maintenance activity.
• Attend internal and external technology training, including classroom sessions, webinars, vendor conferences, and sessions led by senior team members.
• Shadow the team during after-hours support for project implementations or incident response.
• Read existing procedures for the activities staff are engaged in.
• Take part in capacity planning discussions.
• Shadow the team in responding to and resolving incidents.
• Understand and follow the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in line with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues that need escalation to management.
• Help create an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and any issues raised by external regulators.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

The Technology Apprentice takes part in a comprehensive training program designed to launch a career in technology. The program combines career planning, technical and competency-based training, and mentorship to prepare apprentices for a successful career in Technology.
