Summer 2027 sUAS Software Engineer Intern

This role supports technical and engineering organizations such as Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Facilities Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering during vacations and short-term breaks from college while enrolled in an accredited degree program.

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is looking for a Summer 2027 Software Engineer Intern. The intern will join a team designing tactical sUAS and related accessories, working alongside a cross functional engineering team. Responsibilities include developing, integrating and deploying software and firmware for sUAS, accessories and control devices. The intern will support quality and reliability through peer reviews, documentation, anticipating and addressing potential issues, and supporting a production team.

Candidates should be able to write efficient, functional and reliable code and develop effective software testing to ensure quality. Experience writing embedded firmware for microcontrollers is expected. The role calls for applying relevant theory to development, troubleshooting complex software issues, and a can-do attitude with a drive to build an excellent product.

Desired Skills

• Experience with DevOps (containerization, Docker development and deployment)
• Experience developing with and programming microcontrollers
• Experience integrating or working with autonomy software and/or hardware, including perception, motion/mission planning or controls
• Experience writing code for test and verification
• Experience with developing a quality software CI/CD pipeline
• Familiarity with electrical schematics
