Lockheed Martin is leading the way in hypersonic missile development, and we want you to be part of it. We are building the first hypersonic boost/glide system for the US Army and Navy on the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program. Our NGC-SW Integrated Product Team (IPT) is responsible for the algorithms and software that control it.
The group includes the Navigation, Guidance, and Control (NG&C or GN&C) subsystem, which flies the missile and glide body, and the embedded Flight Software (FSW) that hosts the NG&C algorithms and provides health, status, and sequencing for the whole system. We also develop and maintain the Flight Software testbeds (HILs or HWILs), which provide full hardware integration testing with feedback and flight simulation.
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for a full-time summer position. You will support the software engineering lifecycle under the program Software Development Plan (SDP), including requirements analysis, object-oriented analysis and design, code reviews, unit testing, integration support, and help with formal test and delivery activities. This internship is designed for undergraduate students who want hands-on experience with real-world aerospace software on cutting-edge hypersonic systems.
Candidates should have experience or knowledge of C, C++, or Python. You must be currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, typically at rising sophomore, junior, or senior standing. US citizenship is required due to program requirements, and eligibility for a government security clearance is necessary. This role is located at a facility with special access requirements.
This is a full-time summer internship (typically 10 to 12 weeks), with mentorship from experienced NG&C and FSW engineers, exposure to hardware-in-the-loop testing environments, and the chance to contribute to critical algorithms and flight software for the next-generation boost/glide system.
The role performs assignments in technical and engineering organizations (for example Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering) during vacations and short breaks from college while enrolled in an accredited degree program.
