About the Program

Lockheed Martin is building the first hypersonic boost/glide system for the US Army and Navy through the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program. The NGC-SW Integrated Product Team (IPT) develops the algorithms and software that control it, including the embedded Flight Software (FSW) that runs the NG&C algorithms and manages health, status, and sequencing for the whole system.

The team also builds and maintains Flight Software testbeds (HILs or HWILs) that provide full hardware integration testing, feedback, and flight simulation.

The Role

As a Software Engineering Intern for a full-time summer position, you will support the software lifecycle under the program Software Development Plan (SDP). Work includes requirements analysis, object-oriented analysis and design, code reviews, unit testing, integration support, and help with formal test and delivery activities.

The internship suits undergraduate students who want hands-on experience with real aerospace software on hypersonic systems. It typically runs 10 to 12 weeks, with mentorship from experienced NG&C and FSW engineers and exposure to hardware-in-the-loop testing environments.

Assignments take place in technical and engineering organizations (such as Electronics, Software, Facilities, and Manufacturing Engineering) during breaks from college while enrolled in an accredited degree program.
