Purpose

The Data Management and Central Monitoring (DM CM) Summer Internship gives undergraduate students hands-on experience supporting clinical data management and data acquisition within Global Development.

Interns may be assigned to a Clinical Data Manager or Data Acquisition Expert-EDC role. Over this 12-week program, interns gain exposure to clinical trials, data management processes, technology platforms, global regulations, and cross-functional drug development. The program also offers coaching, mentoring, networking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Depending on the assigned role, responsibilities may include:

• Carrying out assigned clinical trial activities within the scope of the internship.
• Working in line with J&J and DM CM SOPs, processes, policies, training requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable regulations.
• Collaborating with colleagues in Data Management and Central Monitoring and other cross-functional partners.
• Supporting innovation and process improvement projects as assigned.
• Contributing to projects aligned with strategic priorities and Our Credo values.

Clinical Data Manager Assignment

• Supporting scientific clinical study data review.
• Helping manage and resolve Study Responsible Scientist (SRS) and Study Responsible Physician (SRP) queries in Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems.
• Supporting additional data review activities, including coding and Serious Adverse Event (SAE) reconciliation.

Data Acquisition Expert-EDC Assignment

• Supporting the setup and maintenance of EDC systems for assigned clinical trials.
• Supporting EDC activities according to established best practices and guidelines.
• Gaining exposure to clinical technology platforms such as Medidata Rave.

This role follows a hybrid model with three days at a local New Jersey or Pennsylvania site and two days remotely. Interns are responsible for their own transportation to the local site.
