Project Manager Intern

At IBM, work is more than a job. This internship focuses on agile, collaborative work across product development and product management teams, driving the release lifecycle of an assigned set of products under the z/OS umbrella.

Responsibilities

• Carry out product-related tasks such as plans, timelines and requirements across different teams.
• Coordinate release schedules and the resources needed based on applications, defect backlogs, planned releases and infrastructure updates.
• Work with the existing Release Management team to support release-management infrastructure and Offering Management (OM) deliverables.
• Drive the release management cycle for a set of products.
• Drive adoption of scalable AI-first development practices across software development PDLC teams.
• Drive measurable productivity and efficiency gains through AI-powered tooling and process optimization.
• Write and maintain Python scripts for task automation and to extend Jira's capabilities using Script Runner.
• Connect Jira Cloud with other platforms to support data integration and smooth automation across systems.
• Understand the implementation of a Spec-Driven Agentic Development framework for z/OS teams to improve planning, execution and delivery predictability.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Project Manager and/or in Release Management.
• Prior experience with release management tools such as Jira, EWM, Git, IBM Bob or AI tools.
• Strong organization, communication and leadership skills.
• Collaborative and teaming skills, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Highly self-motivated and resourceful, with the aptitude to learn quickly and flexibility to work with global teams across geographies and time zones.
• Fluency in English.
• Expertise in Release Management, Project Management and/or Product Management.
• Project Management Certification.
• Knowledge of the z/OS release process and procedures.
• Experience in Security Privacy by Design (SPBD) requirements and compliance.
• Experience automating in Jira or release management tools.
• Experience as a Jira Cloud Administrator or Developer, skilled in project configurations, workflows and customization.
