Design Excellence & Operations Intern

What does our Internship Program offer?

Key's Enterprise Internship is a 10.5-week program that provides meaningful work, feedback, and coaching, and creates engaging events and conversations that spark excitement and interest in a full-time career at Key.

Interns are involved in line of business specific projects that directly impact Key's business and strategic pillars. The program includes networking with Key teammates across all levels, Learning Labs with internal and external speakers, and an assigned mentor who shares knowledge and advice.

Job Summary

The Design Excellence & Operations Intern will support the DExOps team by contributing to initiatives that enhance the Experience & Design (KeyXD) team's ability to deliver excellence across People, Processes, Platforms, and Portfolio.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to learn, grow your skills, share your perspective, and contribute to team interactions, project intake, process improvements, workflow optimization, vendor management, and more. This role offers hands-on experience in design operations and exposure to cross-functional teamwork.

Essential Functions

• Assist in documenting, standardizing, and operationalizing design processes across 6 cross-functional teams.
• Support the organization and maintenance of centralized tooling systems for design documentation and assets (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Figma, etc.).
• Assist with team communications and feedback loops to promote transparency and alignment.
• Help create and participate in team-building and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including acting professionally and ethically.

Education

• Must have completed at least two years toward a four-year undergraduate degree with coursework in Design, Business, Communications, or related field, with anticipated graduation on or before May 2028.

Work Experience

• No prior professional experience required. Previous internship or project work in design, design operations, or process improvement is a plus.

Skills

• Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with the design process and DesignOps field is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Figma, Miro, Jira is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

• General office: prolonged sitting, ability to communicate in-person or via video, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
