Position Overview

Applied Materials is looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern for its Hardware Engineering team. You will work alongside experienced engineers on the development, analysis, testing, and improvement of semiconductor equipment and subsystems.

The role offers hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development, experimental validation, and failure analysis. Your work will contribute to real engineering projects that affect customer performance and product reliability.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will work as a mechanical design engineer supporting critical chamber hardware for capital equipment product lines. Responsibilities include:

• Support mechanical design and development for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and related hardware.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Design and run engineering experiments, collect and analyze data, and present findings to project teams.
• Take part in prototype development, testing, and validation.
• Carry out root cause investigations and support failure analysis.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and suppliers.
• Contribute to design reviews and suggest improvements for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations that communicate project results and recommendations.
