About the Job

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company working to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. The company brings the expertise and business model of leading 21st century innovators to the defense industry, changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Its family of systems runs on Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center.

Anduril is looking for Product Sourcing Engineer interns to join its fast-growing teams. The role drives strategic supply network development and cost management for Anduril's product hardware across its lifecycle, working with suppliers and with engineering, quality and manufacturing stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Select suppliers for a specific product using the approved supplier list.
  • Partner with strategic suppliers to speed up product development through activities such as:
    • Concept scoping to quickly lock requirements
    • Feature trade-off tables
    • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modeling
    • Joint design development through clear statements of work
    • Simulation of mechanical and electronics designs
  • Develop and execute the sourcing strategy through market knowledge, supplier rationalization, commodity pricing plans and efficiency principles.
  • Drive development and consolidation of a manufacturing BOM with Quality and Manufacturing to ramp production internally and with suppliers.
  • Own all NPI component procurement, delivered on time and correct, to scale manufacturing.
  • Manage requests for and verification of supplier-related CAPEX throughout NPI.
  • Run value-stream mapping to improve supply network lead time and flexibility.
  • Complete BOM risk assessments and build plans for each part.
  • Track component qualifications completed by stakeholders ahead of production need dates.
  • Reduce supply chain complexity through commonality optimization and component and supplier rationalization.
  • Lead cost engineering activities to converge the bottom-up cost curve to product cost, maximizing TCO across the product lifecycle.
  • Manage ad-hoc cost issues such as tariffs, import/export costs and cost inflation.
  • Design and implement new supply chain processes and systems that meet business requirements and scale.
  • Manage project schedules, identify critical path activities, and proactively mitigate risks.
  • Hold project teams and stakeholders accountable for deliverables and deadlines, clearing roadblocks and driving decisions.
  • Establish program structure, milestones and operating rhythms to drive results.
  • Align stakeholders and influence without formal authority in ambiguous, high-stakes situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in:
    • Design and development of mechanical and/or electronics devices
    • Advanced sourcing, including roles as a commodity or sourcing manager
    • Supplier development (technology, process, supply chain, etc.)
    • Early supplier engagement before product or engineering requirements are set
  • Exposure to value or procurement engineering or TCO work at the component and product level
  • Familiarity with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment
