Join Amgen's Mission of Serving Patients

At Amgen, our shared mission is to serve patients living with serious illnesses, and that mission drives everything we do.

Since 1980, Amgen has helped pioneer biotech in the fight against some of the world's toughest diseases. We focus on four therapeutic areas: Oncology, Inflammation, General Medicine, and Rare Disease, and we reach millions of patients each year. Our pipeline spans cancer, heart disease, inflammatory conditions, rare diseases, and obesity and obesity-related conditions.

Our culture is collaborative, innovative, and science based. If you enjoy challenges, you will thrive on the Amgen team.

What You Will Do

This summer 2027 internship is expected to last about 12 weeks and combines a project assignment with experiential learning. You will help connect people and insights across Amgen's R&D ecosystem, supporting more than 10,000 scientists and clinicians as they find the knowledge they need. You will select a project focus with the team based on your interests and team priorities. Possible areas include:

  • Co-designing, prototyping, and testing AI assistants that go beyond Q&A, such as roleplay simulators, digital coaches, and recommendation engines
  • Building the knowledge foundations and infrastructure that help people and AI experiences find trusted, useful information
  • Using user research and usability feedback to improve the experience and interface of Knowledge Management tools
  • Creating practical, engaging stories, multimedia, and knowledge assets with AI tools and creative thinking
  • Helping teams adopt new ways to learn and share knowledge through communication, feedback, and culture-building
  • Partnering with stakeholders to understand user needs and define project goals, success measures, and deliverables
  • Researching opportunities, developing and testing ideas, and using feedback and analysis to refine solutions
  • Sharing recommendations and project results with partners, including through an intern poster session and final presentation
  • Taking part in learning activities, connecting with colleagues across Amgen, and engaging with Employee Resource Groups

You will collaborate with global partners across R&D, digital, and learning teams. Your project may center on an AI assistant or a broader Knowledge Management solution, and the scope will be shaped with you and the team. The project focus and specific tasks may vary based on your interests and team priorities.

What We Look For

The curious and adaptable person we seek is a problem-solver with the following strengths:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an interest in collaboration
  • Curiosity, adaptability, self-motivation, and eagerness to learn
  • Organization, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in AI, including prompt engineering and generative AI concepts (coding experience is not required)
  • Comfort using digital tools and working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • Strong research and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain ideas clearly

What You Can Expect From Us

Amgen supports your professional and personal growth and well-being, with competitive benefits and a collaborative culture.

  • Build a network of colleagues that will last throughout your time with Amgen and beyond.
  • Bring your authentic self to work in a culture that values diversity of thought and experience.
