Frontend Developer Internship

The internship program introduces students to the firm and to the world's financial markets. It includes a company-curated global training week, real development projects, and social events that help interns get to know the team and culture.

• Dates: 10-week program, starting June 7, 2027 and ending August 13, 2027 (flexible if needed)
• Training: Ongoing training throughout the summer, plus a training week in New York
• Projects: Real problems to solve during the program. Interns choose from a list of projects and have several senior mentors over the summer.

The User Interface (UI) development team is a group of versatile software engineers who work with traders and developers to gather requirements and build real-time trading, visualization, analysis and reporting tools. Strong candidates have a passion for designing intuitive user interfaces and broad experience with web technologies and JavaScript frameworks.

As an intern, you will complete a range of challenging development projects alongside the senior team. The work focuses on improving the scalability, performance and efficiency of the trading systems. It is a rare chance to learn how trading tools are designed and built for scale, and how to handle the large volumes of data that move through Virtu's systems each day.

Requirements

• Rising juniors, or students expected to be ready for full-time employment between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Excellent academic background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript, React and Node.
• Experience with TypeScript, Java, C++ and Python is a plus.
• Comfort working across a wide variety of projects (frontend and backend, different programming languages).
• A self-starter who identifies issues and builds solutions without rigid direction or fanfare.
• Highly motivated and tenacious, with a proven ability to take initiative and work both independently and within a team.
• A genuine team player who works toward shared goals.

The Process

After passing an initial resume screening, applicants will receive an online programming test through HackerRank. Virtu will then reach out to arrange next steps.

Salary range: $5,000 to $5,800 per week, exclusive of sign-on bonuses, housing, meals, benefits or other compensation.
