The Experience

Salesforce AI Labs is looking for emerging AI and computer science talent for a highly selective, 12-week summer internship. The program is designed to develop the next generation of AI builders.

AI Labs interns spend 12 weeks embedded in one of four disciplines, working on real technical, product, or customer challenges with frontier AI technologies. Interns work alongside experienced researchers, engineers, product managers, and technical leaders, with access to AI-native development tools and chances to take meaningful ownership of their work.

Interns are placed in one of four disciplines:

• Build (Product Engineering): Design, build, and ship AI-powered products, developing technical expertise in production-scale engineering.
• Shape (Product Management): Turn customer needs into product strategy, define priorities, and help shape the next generation of AI products.
• Deliver (FDE / Builders): Work with teams developing and deploying AI solutions for real-world customer challenges.
• Transform (DET / Customer Zero): Reimagine enterprise workflows and operations, using AI to drive transformation at scale.

While gaining hands-on experience in one discipline, interns also collaborate with peers from the other three on a cross-functional capstone project, culminating in a final presentation at Demo Day.

This internship can feed into the 24-month AI Labs Rotational Fellowship, where Fellows complete four six-month rotations across Build, Shape, Deliver, and Transform. Interns who show strong performance and potential may be considered for full-time Fellowship opportunities after graduation.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build and Deliver AI Solutions: Spend 12 weeks in one AI Labs discipline, contributing to projects that solve real technical, product, or customer challenges.
• Work with Frontier AI: Gain hands-on experience with AI-native development tools, AI agents, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate Across Disciplines: Partner with interns from all four disciplines on a capstone project that combines different perspectives into an AI solution.
• Own Meaningful Work: Own assigned projects from problem definition through experimentation, development, and delivery, with guidance from AI Labs leaders.
• Present Your Work: Showcase your team's capstone project at an in-person Demo Day for an executive panel.
• Learn from AI Leaders: Engage with engineering, product, FDE, and DET teams through mentorship, workshops, and cohort experiences.

Bonus Experience

• Proven Build History: Portfolio evidence of building, deploying, or open-sourcing software or AI applications.
• Applied AI Experience: Prior internship, research, or project work in software engineering, data engineering, machine learning, product development, or solutions architecture.
• Cross-Functional Experience: Experience working across engineering, product, design, or customer-facing teams.
• Cloud and Data Pipelines: Exposure to cloud infrastructure, scalable data processing (Spark, SQL), or MLOps pipelines for model deployment.
