Sales Engineer Intern

Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, expanding humanity's reach into the solar system. Today, Astranis satellites provide dedicated, secure networks to sophisticated customers across the globe, including large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and many more set to launch soon, the company is servicing a backlog of over $1 billion in commercial contracts. Astranis has raised over $1.2 billion from top investors and employs a team of 500 engineers and entrepreneurs.

Internships at Astranis typically last twelve weeks and are hourly roles designed for students currently enrolled at a four-year university. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects, with many past interns having designed and tested hardware and software that is heading to space. Role

Pre-sales and post-sales network architecture and planning, which involves optimizing high-throughput satellite networks by understanding and trading dozens of parameters, including:

• Digital payload configuration
• Orbital slot selection and frequency planning
• Antenna system optimization, user coverage area definition
• Gateway location(s) selection
• User terminal selection
• Networking / modem equipment selection and configuration

The role provides a balance of technical and business/customer-facing responsibilities, and is high visibility and high impact. It includes 1:1 mentorship from a senior sales engineer.

Requirements

• Strong ability to optimize systems by juggling many variables, considering all options, and running detailed trade studies
• Process-oriented mindset, constantly seeking more efficient ways of doing things
• Scripting language experience, preferably Python
• Enjoy a fast-paced environment
