Automation Systems Engineering Internship

Raytheon is looking for a part-time intern for Spring 2027 to work with its automation systems engineers. These engineers combine manufacturing engineering with digital transformation, aligning digital systems and core infrastructure so they can adapt to local factory needs. This internship supports efforts to improve predictable factory execution within the Effectors subsystems.

What You Will Do

• Support proposal development for automation projects through time studies, financial assessments, return on investment analysis and requirements gathering.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts for departmental demand planning tools.
• Support deployment and installation of existing robotics systems alongside engineers and project managers.
• Follow up on past robotics and automation projects to confirm return on investment is being met, and provide additional training as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, industrial engineering or a related STEM major, and actively enrolled through completion of the internship.
• At least 29 credit hours completed by the start of the internship or co-op session.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Experience may be gained through on-the-job work, research, coursework or projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree focus in mechanical engineering, systems engineering or industrial engineering.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience or education in robotics or automation.
• Proficiency with Power BI.
• 3.0 cumulative GPA.

This is a part-time onsite internship running January 2027 to June 2027. The position is not eligible for relocation assistance. It involves direct support of manufacturing activities and time in and around factory areas. This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services handles adjudication for the process. Candidates may be asked to attend some interview steps in person at an RTX office.

The salary range is a good faith estimate for all experience levels. Pay depends on factors such as role, experience, location, education and key skills.
