At RTX, internships, co-ops and full-time careers offer a strong foundation for working on complex problems, building your skills and helping create a safer, more connected world.

What You Will Do

As a Structures Intern at Pratt & Whitney, you will:

  • Work closely with an experienced mentor to provide analytical support for compressor airfoils and cases across preliminary and detailed design, development testing, certification by regulatory authorities or government customers, transition to production, field support, and repair limit definition.
  • Perform ANSYS finite element analysis (FEA) for stress, vibration, mission low cycle fatigue life, residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction, and optimization.
  • Support engine test strain gage data reduction and production and in-service field investigations.
  • Take an active part in cross-discipline integrated product teams to design solutions that balance performance, cost, and weight while ensuring structural durability.
  • Create and present clear documentation of analytical solutions to integrated product teams and other internal customers.

What You Will Learn

  • Engineering Interns at Pratt & Whitney work on challenging, meaningful projects across the business.
  • The intern program helps you understand the aerospace industry and learn about the company and its operations.

What We Offer

  • Relocation eligibility is available.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed coursework in Strength of Materials, Materials Science, and Finite Element Analysis (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with solid modeling or finite element modeling, computer programming (Perl, VBA, Python, Matlab, etc.), optimization, statistics, and manufacturing methods.
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

This role is onsite. Candidates may be asked to attend some interview steps in person, regardless of role type.

The salary range is 37,000 USD to 82,000 USD, based on a good faith estimate across experience levels. Pay depends on factors such as the role, location, education, work experience and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, holidays, and other benefits, as well as incentive programs that are not guaranteed.
