What You Will Do

Join the Aerothermal group and help analyze and develop turbine systems. As an intern, you will work alongside senior engineers and gain hands-on experience in aerothermal engineering. Your work will directly affect the performance and efficiency of turbine systems.

• Analyze internal air systems to assess cooling and sealing effectiveness.
• Perform thermal analysis of rotating and static hardware components.
• Run computational fluid dynamics analysis to evaluate turbine system performance.
• Work with senior engineers on technical challenges in fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
• Prepare technical documentation and present findings to support ongoing projects.
• Assist with trade studies that compare design options and improve system capabilities.
• Turn raw test data into actionable insights that guide design decisions.

What You Will Learn

Engineering interns at RTX work on challenging, meaningful projects across the business. The intern program helps you understand the aerospace industry and learn how the company and its operations work.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Coursework or exposure to fluid dynamics, heat transfer and computational fluid dynamics.
• Experience with applied thermodynamics and turbomachinery component design.
• Familiarity with Python, MATLAB or similar programming languages.
• Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
