Structural Engineer Intern

Job Description

Parsons is seeking motivated engineering students with an interest in bridge structures for our Summer 2027 internship program. In this role, you will gain exposure to the production of drawings and calculations for the design of highway and rail bridge structures. The position is located downtown Chicago, close to public transportation and the Metra commuter rail stations.

Applicants should include transcripts, a brief cover letter outlining your main areas of interest within civil engineering, and the skills and experiences you hope to gain through summer employment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Use CAD to prepare engineering plans, sections and details starting from sketches and other general design information.
• Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
• Become familiar with various standards and codes, and apply them to check that designs comply with applicable criteria.

This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team. No security clearance is required.
