Roadway Engineering Intern in Indianapolis

Parsons is now accepting applications for its Summer 2027 Roadway Engineering Internship program supporting the Indianapolis team. You will build your engineering technical skills through direct mentorship and collaboration with a team of infrastructure design experts. Intern classes fill up fast, so apply early.

What You'll Be Doing

• Determine creative and efficient methods and solutions for complex road or highway engineering problems, choosing the most economical approach to meet objectives.
• Make sure designs meet approved Federal, State and local agency requirements and accepted industry practices.
• Provide specifications, estimates, quantity calculations, technical reports, and detailed engineering analyses.
• Review supplier drawing submittals and perform technical bid analyses.
• Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or work as a design engineer on intermediate to large scale projects.
• May be assigned tasks across disciplines such as roadway design, traffic design, drainage design, and more.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

• Prior transportation or structural engineering coursework
• Currently enrolled in pursuit of a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field
• Interest in and ability to work on multiple road and highway projects at once
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge of MS Office tools, CAD proficiency (MicroStation preferred), and a solid understanding of industry standards and applicable engineering software
