Bridge Engineering Intern in Centreville, VA

Overview

Parsons is now accepting applications for its Summer 2027 Bridge Internship program with the Centreville, Virginia team. Interns will build engineering technical skills through direct mentorship and collaboration with an experienced team of infrastructure design experts.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop creative solutions for complex bridge engineering challenges, choosing efficient and cost-effective methods.
• Make sure designs meet Federal, State, and local agency requirements and accepted industry practices.
• Prepare specifications, estimates, quantity calculations, technical reports, and detailed engineering analyses.
• Review supplier drawing submittals and perform technical bid analyses.
• Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• Contribute to project or organizational teams, or act as a design engineer on intermediate to large-scale projects.

Required Skills

• Completed coursework in transportation or structural engineering.
• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Interest in and ability to work on multiple bridge or roadway projects at once.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, CAD software (MicroStation preferred), and a solid grasp of industry standards and engineering software.

Desired Skills

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Prior internship experience.
