Job Description

Parsons is looking for a talented Chemical Process Engineer Intern to join our team. In this role, you will work with a degreed and/or professionally licensed senior process engineer to help develop process documents and drawings.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Each intern is paired with a mentor from the same discipline. Interns also take part in the Parsons Early Talent Program, where they interact with interns from other disciplines and senior management.
  • Under the direction of a degreed and licensed chemical engineer, you will become familiar with a range of chemical process engineering support assignments.
  • All activities are designed to give you a full understanding of the engineering design lifecycle and the role chemical engineers play at Parsons.
  • You may be asked to apply chemical engineering principles to help develop or troubleshoot process systems and equipment, and to take engineering notes and sketches. Possible work includes developing Basis of Design (BOD) documents, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Mass and Energy Balance calculations, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), datasheets, equipment selection and sizing, and equipment specifications.
  • You may also help develop Preliminary and Process Hazard Analyses (PHA). Assignments build practical knowledge of chemical process systems and how they interact with mechanical, instrumentation and controls, piping, civil, structural, architecture, fire protection, and environmental disciplines.

Desired Skills

  • Motivation to work closely with a senior process engineer, a desire to possibly join the Parsons Process Engineering team, and interest in growing within Parsons after graduation.
