Northrop Grumman is seeking Structural Engineer interns for this position at its Space sector in San Diego, CA. The candidate will join the Mission Enabling Products Business Unit.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Take part in or lead analysis group continuous improvement and training efforts
• Compile material allowable and property data to support analysis database creation
• Organize and archive analysis group technical data and documentation
• Build finite element models and perform trade studies and analysis to support program schedules

Basic Qualifications

• Be a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university, and be enrolled full-time in Fall 2027
• Be majoring in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special access within a reasonable time (U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite)
• Have completed some coursework in finite element analysis, mechanics of materials, dynamics and vibrations
• Have experience and success working within teams
• Show ability to multi-task and work independently as a self-starter
• Have strong interpersonal skills to drive the actions needed to complete assigned tasks
• Have strong organizational skills for managing time, projects and resources
• Show technical attention to detail on past projects and assignments

Preferred Qualifications

• Overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher
• Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
• Prior leadership experience

Intern Pay Range

Bachelor's: $21.50 to $39.00 per hour. Master's: $30.50 to $48.00 per hour.

Internship pay rates are standardized and account for the anticipated graduation date, the cost of labor in the geographic location, and whether the internship is technical or administrative.
