Job Description

The team includes Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering and System Technologist personnel. They work together in a high performance culture, often under demanding cycle times and high customer expectations, to deploy mission critical communication systems.

Many of these systems use the APCO Project 25 communications standard and interface with other critical customer sub-systems. As data services grow, some customer mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with LTE connectivity, supporting applications and live mobile video alongside traditional core voice and narrow-band data networks.

Role Responsibilities

• Prepare to lead customer presentations
• Take part in system staging activities
• Help complete system documentation
• Take part in live system upgrades
• Help ensure the integrity of the architecture and design

Interns will carry out field engineering duties during a radio system upgrade cycle. You will learn to upgrade and deploy network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines and Motorola proprietary devices. You will also prepare to act as a customer-facing technical resource during the upgrade effort. Most travel will be to customer locations in the South Central US.

Specific Knowledge and Skills

• Experience or knowledge of radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE is highly desirable
• Experience and working knowledge of IP networking, network design and troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) is highly desirable
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar are highly desirable
• Previous work with some or all of Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme or Ceragon is highly desirable
• Direct experience working with end-user customers is essential
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences are essential

Several weeks of travel is required for the internship.

Basic Requirements

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or Networking
• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident with the ability to obtain a background clearance as required by government customers
• Travel of up to 50% is required for this position
