Role Overview

KLA is looking for an Analytical Chemist Intern to help make the chips, wafers, transistors and reticles used in electronics. The work involves seeing, testing and manufacturing these components at scale.

Business Unit

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA's product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Its inspection, metrology and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. The team also develops technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates and PCB manufacturing.

The ECI Division delivers chemical metrology and process control solutions for monitoring critical wet process steps in semiconductor and advanced packaging manufacturing. It provides real-time chemical analysis and management systems that help customers prevent yield-limiting defects and stabilize metallization and cleaning processes.

What You'll Do

As an Analytical Chemist Intern, you will develop, optimize and validate analytical methods for chemical measurement and process control of process fluids used in the semiconductor industry. You will also:

• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams
• Plan, design and execute experiments, analyze results and document findings in technical reports
• Support product development through testing, documentation and ongoing technical support
• Validate analytical methods developed in R&D and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related field
• Strong foundation in chemistry, with analytical chemistry preferred
• Finishing your program in the next year
• Working knowledge of electrochemistry, spectroscopy, titration and HPLC
• Experience working in a chemistry lab
• Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and data analysis
• Ability to interpret complex data and turn results into actionable insights
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting and presentations
• Ability to work alone or with limited supervision

Minimum Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
