We are searching for top talent for the TDS CGT-Cell Development Co-Op based in Spring House, PA.

  • 2 vacancies are currently available.
  • The co-op term is typically six months, from January to June 2027 (flexible).
  • Full-time requirement (40 hours per week), fully on-site.

Purpose

The TDS Cell & Gene Therapy Development Cell Therapy Development Co-Op provides hands-on experience supporting process development for advanced cell therapy modalities, including CAR-T cell therapy. The student will contribute to research on cryopreservation, cell culture operations, and cell therapy development, and gain exposure to experimental design, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects focused on developing and optimizing cell and gene therapy drug products.
  • Evaluate cryobag fill uniformity and its impact on cryopreservation performance.
  • Characterize temperature profiles during freezing and thawing across different cryobag configurations, orientations, and container formats.
  • Assess how cryopreservation conditions affect process consistency and post-thaw cell quality.
  • Perform laboratory work including aseptic cell culture, cell isolation, and PBMC isolation.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data using analytical and statistical methods.
  • Take part in technical discussions on experimental design and process development strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project teams through regular meetings and presentations.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks and technical documentation according to established guidelines.
  • Provide additional project support as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Completion of undergraduate freshman year at an accredited university is required.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, or related fields.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher across all college coursework.
  • Must remain actively enrolled in an accredited university for the duration of the co-op.
  • No summer internship contract or other employment commitment that could interfere with the specified contract dates.
  • Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States and must not require sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Previous experience with aseptic technique and cell culture is required.
  • Knowledge of cell isolation techniques, PBMC isolation methods, basic statistics, analytical techniques, and experimental design is preferred.
  • Experience or coursework in T Cell Biology, Immunology, cryopreservation, CAR-T cell therapy, or related cell therapy fields is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, communication, presentation, and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and work independently while contributing to team goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership through campus organizations, research, or community involvement is preferred.
  • Prior laboratory research, data analysis, and scientific experiment experience is preferred.

Candidates must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and must not require employment visa sponsorship (such as H-1B or green card) now or in the future. Students on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT generally require future sponsorship for long-term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for a long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
