At IBM, work is more than a job. The team builds, designs, codes, consults, invents and collaborates to attempt things that once seemed impossible. As a Developer at IBM, you will work on the systems driving the quantum revolution and the AI era, helping clients make better decisions with greater speed on trusted platforms.
IBM has openings for Hardware Development Engineers to develop, test and provide customer support for hardware, firmware and semiconductors used in its industry-leading products. The team pioneers innovations for microprocessors and hardware used in IBM zSystems, IBM Power Systems, IBM Storage and IBM Quantum Systems.
Development engineers take part in the development, test and support process, including:
Candidates with at least three months of computer or electrical engineering experience designing or manufacturing hardware products are preferred. Basic knowledge of computer hardware and architecture (FPGAs, RISC-V, ARM, MIPS), programming languages (C/C++/C#, Python, or Java), hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog), and circuit simulation tools (SPICE) is also preferred.
Proficiency in one or more of these technology areas is expected: microprocessor/ASIC design (VHDL, Verilog, RTL, SPICE, TCL, UVM), computer architecture coursework (VLSI design, microprocessors, signal integrity), programming (C/C++, Git, Linux, GDB, Agile practices), scripting (Python, APDL, TCL, Bash, Perl, Java), CAD tools and 3D modeling, and hardware architectures such as VLSI, FPGA, MIPS, RISC-V, Arm, x86, Arduino and quantum systems.
