About the Role

IBM is hiring Analog Design Interns to join the team responsible for delivering high-speed SERDES interfaces for IBM Power and Z microprocessors built on advanced 3nm technologies and beyond. Possible Responsibilities

• Help your new team move the high-speed IO architecture from NMZ to PAM4 to support future IBM microprocessors.
• Use industry standard and IBM proprietary tools to design, simulate, and lay out circuits.
• Work on transmitter, receiver, PLL, or other analog designs.
• Learn how complex analog circuits are developed and delivered for IBM products.
• Perform schematic level design using Cadence design tools.
• Carry out in-depth circuit analysis using Spectre and SPICE simulators.
• Analyze designs for manufacturability and end of life requirements.
• Develop scripts to parse data using languages such as Python.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, with relevant circuit design coursework and applied circuit design experience.
• Experience with Cadence and SPICE tools.
• Understanding of VHDL, Python, Perl, and TCL.
• Pursuing an MS in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in Analog Circuit Design, with relevant analog circuit design coursework.
• Understanding of interface terminology such as NMZ, PAM4, CTLE, DFE, PLLs, RX, and TX, and how they work within a high-speed interface.
