Harness Manufacturing Intern (Summer 2027)

Internships at Astranis typically last for twelve weeks and are hourly roles designed for students currently enrolled at a four-year university.

As an Intern, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems. We pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on challenging projects, no matter their seniority. Many past interns have designed and tested hardware/software that is currently in space or heading to space on one of our satellites, and many are now full-time employees at Astranis.

Role

• The Harness Manufacturing Intern will support the design, build, and continuous improvement of wire harness and cable assembly processes. This role provides hands-on exposure to production environments, manufacturing documentation, quality systems, and process optimization in a low/medium volume production setting.
• Support manufacturing engineers with process documentation and work instruction review.
• Assist with wire harness and cable assembly builds, including cutting, stripping, crimping, labeling, and lacing.
• Participate in quality inspections.
• Help analyze manufacturing issues such as defects, rework, and throughput constraints.
• Assist with equipment qualification, tooling and fixture improvements, and test setups.
• Support DFM/DFA feedback to engineering teams.
• Collect and review production data for process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
• Strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with spacecraft systems and operation.
• Must be onsite 5 days a week.

Bonus

• Hands-on experience in designing, building, and testing any type of hardware.
• Experience working in a laboratory or industrial environment.
• Experience in CAD.
• Direct electrical or mechanical design experience.
