Vernova Purpose

Join our powerful, unified force with the energy to change the world. As an intern in the Industrial Excellence Department, you will actively contribute to the productivity and efficiency metrics of the business.

Job Summary

As a Summer Intern, Methods and Process Engineering at GE Vernova, you will gain hands-on experience in a world-class manufacturing environment while working alongside experienced engineers and operations leaders.

You will help develop, optimize, and standardize manufacturing processes for circuit breakers and instrument transformers. Through shop floor projects, data analysis, process improvement, and work with cross-functional teams, you will see how engineering principles and Lean methodologies improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

This role suits a motivated engineering student who wants practical manufacturing experience, stronger problem-solving skills, and the chance to contribute to real business results.

What You'll Do

  • Support manufacturing and process engineering activities for circuit breaker and instrument transformer production lines.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, production data, and cycle times to find opportunities for productivity, quality, and efficiency gains.
  • Develop and update Standard Work, work instructions, process documentation, and manufacturing process maps.
  • Take part in Lean and continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen, 5S, waste elimination, and process optimization.
  • Assist with PFMEA, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving to identify and reduce manufacturing risks.
  • Support time studies, line balancing, capacity analysis, and production routing.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of manufacturing fixtures, tooling, and ergonomic improvements.
  • Work with Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and EHS teams to resolve manufacturing issues and deliver improvements.
  • Present project results, recommendations, and data-driven findings to engineering and operations leadership.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • A passion for manufacturing, continuous improvement, Lean, or operational excellence.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a hands-on approach to solving problems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, or other continuous improvement methods.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or other data analysis tools.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, production environments, engineering projects, or technical teams.
  • Ability to analyze data, communicate findings, and present recommendations.
  • Participation in academic projects, internships, co-ops, student organizations, or other teamwork and technical problem-solving activities.
  • Comfort working directly with operators and engineers on the shop floor (Gemba) and learning from people with different technical backgrounds.

Benefits

GE Vernova provides competitive benefits to support its workforce. This position is also eligible for:

  • Relocation Assistance: reimbursement for reasonable, documented expenses incurred when reporting to work initially and returning to school or home at the end of the assignment, for those with a permanent address more than 50 miles from the work location.

  • Employee Assistance Program with 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling, and referral services.
  • GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after 90 days of accumulated service, subject to plan eligibility requirements.
