About the Role & Program

Disney Consumer Products (DCP) Product Design team brings beloved characters and stories to life through toys and play experiences that fans and guests around the world enjoy. This internship goes beyond concept work. You will follow one or more products through the full development process, from ideation through sampling and into the parks and "on stage." You will work with our designers and product development team to explore concepts in categories such as plush, action figures, games, playsets, outdoor play, and roleplay, with mentorship from experienced toy and product designers.

This is a full-time, six-month internship in the Orlando, FL area from January 2027 through June 2027.

What You Will Do

  • Support the design team in developing concepts and sketches for toy and play products across multiple categories, following select products from ideation through prototyping, sampling, and production.
  • Assist in building, refining, and giving feedback on physical and digital prototypes.
  • Take part in brainstorms and concept reviews, contributing original ideas rooted in Disney IP, including classic characters, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and more.
  • Research trends in toy design, play patterns, and materials to shape new product concepts.
  • Work cross-functionally with product development, Sourcing, and Merchant partners to take designs from concept through production.
  • Review and give feedback on samples as products move toward final production and placement on stage in our parks.
  • Help prepare presentation boards, mood boards, and pitch materials for internal design reviews.
  • Incorporate feedback from mentors and leadership, iterating quickly across multiple concepts and development rounds.

Required Material

A portfolio review showcasing relevant sketches, concepts, or projects, with an emphasis on toy and character design and illustration work, is required. The portfolio should show your ability to develop characters from multiple viewpoints and translate two-dimensional artwork into three-dimensional forms.

For full consideration, include a link to your portfolio on your résumé. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered complete and may not be fully considered for the position.
