About this role

Carrier is looking for a Computer Scientist or Software Engineer to join the eDesign team. The team builds and maintains software tools used to design and optimize the energy efficiency of HVAC systems for commercial buildings. eDesign tools are used by thousands of engineering firms worldwide. This position is based in Syracuse, NY.

Responsibilities

• Developing desktop application software for HVAC system design and energy modeling.
• Analyzing software requirements and designing software solutions.
• Coding to implement solutions.
• Working collaboratively with other developers on planning, design and code review, test planning, and more.
• Performing unit and system testing.
• Participating in the Agile development process and team project meetings.
• Evaluating and identifying new libraries, tools and technologies for the software development team, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Understanding of object-oriented design and analysis (OOD and OOA).
• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL, XML, JSON, WPF and XAML.
• Demonstrated experience working on independent, self-motivated tasks, with strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with software development principles and processes.
• Experience using agentic AI tools for software development.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

This position may be eligible for short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements. This position is not eligible for Carrier benefits.
