Join Amgen's Mission of Serving Patients

At Amgen, our shared mission is to serve patients living with serious illnesses, and that purpose guides everything we do.

Since 1980, Amgen has helped pioneer biotech in the fight against some of the world's toughest diseases. The company focuses on four therapeutic areas: Oncology, Inflammation, General Medicine, and Rare Disease, and reaches millions of patients each year. Its pipeline spans treatments for cancer, heart disease, inflammatory conditions, rare diseases, and obesity and obesity-related conditions.

Amgen's culture is collaborative, innovative, and science based. Team members who enjoy challenges tend to thrive here.

What You Will Do

This graduate internship lasts approximately 12 weeks and combines project-based work with experiential learning. Interns become integral members of the R&D Execution, Operations & Strategy (R&D EOS) organization, which drives innovation beyond the molecule and applies digital and other strategies to simplify processes. R&D EOS has four functional areas:

  • Strategy: Powering up R&D through strategy, functional transformation, and performance excellence
  • Portfolio & Program Management: Turning product strategy into execution to bring medicines to patients faster
  • R&D Business Operations: Managing R&D operational activities such as budget planning and contracting, suppliers, laboratories, workforce strategy, and environmental, social & governance (ESG)
  • R&D Knowledge & Learning: Advancing digitization and modern learning, and cultivating talent and culture for a people-centric, inclusive workforce

The work is highly collaborative across functions and levels, including Research & Development, Chief Medical Office, Chief Technology Officer, Quality & Compliance, and others. Interns are responsible for one or more key projects, such as:

  • Supporting a project within one of the functional areas
  • Working with cross-functional teams on projects that improve R&D competitiveness through speed, agility, and execution excellence
  • Using analytical, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to identify problems, conduct research, develop recommendations through qualitative and quantitative analysis, and deliver final projects
  • Presenting deliverables and findings at an intern-wide poster session and a final readout to executive management
  • Taking part in learning activities, networking across the company, and full access to Amgen's Employee Resource Groups
