Compensation Overview

The hourly salary range shown for this position is a nationwide market range covering a broad set of salaries for this role across the country. The actual hourly rate will be determined by factors including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials and experience, and other conditions of employment. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of the compensation and benefits program.

What Is the Opportunity?

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. now and in the future. The company does not sponsor or support H-1B petitions, TN, or Forms I-983/STEM OPT for this role.

The Travelers Claim Intern program gives qualified candidates the chance to gain first-hand business experience and on-the-job training. Interns contact clients, determine coverage, scope losses and complete damage estimates. The program is for candidates interested in entering the insurance industry and considering claims as a future career.

Housing assistance is not provided.

What Will You Do?

  • Structured onboarding to Travelers systems and protocols.
  • Exposure to Personal and Business Insurance claims of basic to moderate complexity.
  • Learn strategies for investigating, negotiating and resolving claims thoroughly, accurately and efficiently.
  • Develop knowledge of what happened, estimate damage, determine applicable coverages and help customers through the process using strong verbal and written communication.
  • Observe the Claim Professional through desk and ride-along sessions with experienced employees.
  • Work with a designated manager or mentor to build claims knowledge through core assignments.
  • Build a strong foundation in customer service, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Complete challenging and meaningful project work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Suggested majors include Business Administration, Liberal Arts (business focus preferred), Business Management, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related business discipline.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

What Is a Must Have?

  • Obtained or pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
