What Is the Opportunity?

The Travelers Claim Intern program gives qualified candidates hands-on business experience and on-the-job training. Interns contact clients, determine coverage, scope losses and complete damage estimates. The program suits people interested in entering the insurance industry and considering claims as a career.

What Will You Do?

• Go through structured onboarding to Travelers systems and protocols.
• Work on Personal and Business Insurance claims of basic to moderate complexity.
• Learn strategies for investigating, negotiating and resolving claims accurately and efficiently.
• Determine what happened, estimate damage, identify applicable coverages and guide customers through the process using strong verbal and written communication.
• Observe Claim Professionals through desk work and ride-alongs with experienced employees.
• Work with a designated manager or mentor on core assignments.
• Build a foundation in customer service, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Complete challenging and meaningful project work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

• A preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Suggested majors include Business Administration, Liberal Arts (business focus preferred), Business Management, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related business discipline.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
