About the job

Stripe is a technology company working to improve the conditions for economic growth and prosperity. It builds programmable financial infrastructure and rethinks how financial services should work, making it easier and cheaper for any business to start and scale. More than 10 million businesses build on Stripe, from solo founders to established enterprises. Stripe processes trillions of dollars a year, equivalent to around 1.7% of global GDP.

Stripe invests back into its technology at an unusual rate, shipping product upgrades every day, maintaining some of the most reliable APIs on the internet, building new financial infrastructure, and advancing risk and fraud tools that make the internet economy safer.

Stripe is a serious place because its customers depend on it for their livelihoods. The team values ambition, intensity, curiosity, humility, and rigor, and it is one of the best places to learn how the world works.

About the Team

The internship program gives interns the chance to work on real projects that customers urgently need. Interns join the Product Design team, which defines, creates, and delivers all user-facing aspects of Stripe's product. Product Designers act as strategic partners to Engineering and Product Management, shaping user experiences and turning them into high-quality designs that can be tested, shipped, and refined.

What You'll Do

As a Product Design Intern, you will design and build experiences that ship to users in production. You will contribute design iterations to ongoing workstreams, work on projects that increase global commerce, and help shape new experiences. The internship program is competitive and expectations are high.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work on a product design project with a product team, turning business ideas into real experiences.
  • Help craft experiences that enable startups and large businesses to establish and manage their businesses.
  • Apply problem-solving skills and human-centered approaches to complex and ambiguous business and user problems.
  • Develop and refine design solutions by working closely with other designers.
  • Craft and prototype visually polished experiences to gather user feedback.
  • Partner with engineering to take a feature from design to implementation and into users' hands.
  • Take part in group design critiques and collaborative design sessions to give and receive feedback.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including engineers, product managers, data scientists, and researchers, seeking and incorporating feedback.
  • Understand and advocate for users, taking part in the design process from early concepts to final delivery.

Who You Are

  • Ambitious builder: You are energized by building solutions without clear precedent and solving problems with far-reaching consequences. You prefer the joy of discovery to the comfort of certainty.
  • Rigorous thinker: You know that things worth doing are rarely simple, and you enjoy problems that have never been tackled before.
  • Adaptable problem solver: You adapt quickly and treat obstacles as opportunities, taking measured risks and acting boldly even without consensus.

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a design-related field, such as UX/UI, Interaction Design, Human Interface, Computer Science, HCI, or a related discipline.
  • Some experience using design tools such as Figma or Canva.
  • Demonstrated experience designing experiences and user flows.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems, research independently, and work effectively with a mentor and teammates.
  • Self-motivated problem solver committed to personal growth.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to use AI tools to speed up work while applying critical thinking and professional judgment to review and validate all outputs.
  • Ability to take part in a paid full-time internship between May and August 2027.

Preferred Qualifications (a bonus, not a requirement)

  • Previous project, internship, or work experience in UX/UI design or related fields.
  • Experience conducting your own research, presenting results, and acting on them.
  • Experience with AI tools such as Cursor, Lovable, V0, or others.
  • Strong knowledge of design craft and visual design.
  • Intent to return to the degree program after the internship or co-op.
