About the job

Skydio is the leading US drone company and a world leader in autonomous flight, a key technology for the future of drones and aerial mobility. The team combines deep expertise in artificial intelligence, hardware and software product development, operational excellence, and customer focus to serve a broad and diverse range of drone users, from utility inspectors and first responders to soldiers in battlefield scenarios.

About the Role

Skydio is seeking interns for its Electrical Engineering (EE) team. Interns will help prototype, validate, develop, and refine the electrical systems that combine advanced computing hardware, sensing, and power systems in autonomous flying sensors. You will work alongside a team of world-class engineers on difficult challenges.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Own low-voltage electronic hardware development, including specification, schematic design, PCB layout, prototyping, and fabrication
  • Perform hands-on bring-up, assembly, and debugging of custom circuit boards for testing and validation
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, firmware, reliability, software, and electrical teams to build reliable test and validation systems for new products
  • Develop and test PCBAs for subsystems such as power distribution, battery management, sensing, motor control, and computing
  • Take part in schematic, layout, and BOM reviews, giving feedback on internal and external designs
  • Support system integration and test activities through test execution, troubleshooting, and failure analysis

What Makes You a Good Fit

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Solid grasp of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Familiar with basic EE lab tools such as oscilloscopes and signal generators
  • Some experience with power electronics (motor drivers, switch mode power supplies), digital electronics (MCU, FPGA, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C), and/or analog electronics (filters, ADC/DAC)
  • Previous internship work on electronic products
  • Familiar with an EDA software suite, preferably Cadence Allegro
  • Ability to quickly prototype solutions and circuit demonstrations
  • Ability to work autonomously
