Reliability Co-op

Our Co-op program offers students hands-on experience in a mission-driven engineering environment. This paid, full-time program runs for multiple months during the academic year and gives extended exposure to real-world hardware development and testing.

Shield AI is looking for a Co-op candidate to help build our autonomous aircraft. You will work with cross-functional engineers who value mentorship, kindness, ownership, and hard work. The ideal start date is June 2027, and the end date is flexible.

What you'll do:

• You will own a project scoped to the start date, duration, and location of your Co-op.
• Your work will contribute directly to our novel aircraft development program and its critical path objectives.
• You will be paired with a senior engineer who serves as your mentor and technical guide.

Examples of projects:

• Qualify a new PCBA material for flight through material downselection, environmental testing, and destructive verification.
• Perform reliability analyses on avionics, compute, and high voltage power electronics to ensure field performance.
• Work with a senior engineer to environmentally test a new avionics system.
• Develop software tools that analyze components and feed results into reliability analyses.
• Run a HALT campaign to confirm that a series of new circuit boards are highly reliable.
• Perform failure analysis on a failed electronic product or component.
