Dallas Hiring Summer 2027 Supplier Development Engineer Intern

Role Overview

Shield AI is looking for a motivated Supplier Development Engineer intern to join the Aircraft Operations Division on the Supply Chain team. The focus is machined parts. The ideal candidate brings experience in supplier development, quality engineering, production process improvement, and aerospace supply chain management. This role helps improve supplier performance by solving challenges that affect quality, on-time delivery and scaling, and by supporting suppliers through onboarding to new designs, supporting the mission of delivering affordable, autonomous mass at scale.

Responsibilities

• Process Improvement: Audit and embed within core supplier processes to find opportunities to reduce cost, lead times and defects.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct on-site audits to find the root cause of supplier quality issues and performance problems.
• Supplier Development: Assess and strengthen supplier capabilities so they align with engineering and operational priorities.
• Engineering Technical Support: Advise suppliers on part specifications, manufacturing processes, standards and quality measures.
• Supplier Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze delivery, quality and cost metrics. Put corrective actions and continuous improvement plans in place as needed.
• Risk Management: Identify and reduce supply chain risks to keep production and component delivery uninterrupted.
• New Product Introduction (NPI): Help new products launch by making sure suppliers meet quality and delivery requirements during development.
