Are you ready to explore aerospace and defense? RTX internships, co-ops and full-time careers give you a strong foundation to work on complex problems, build your skills and help create a safer, more connected world.
The Manufacturing Engineering intern supports production and manufacturing processes in a team-based setting at Collins Aerospace. You will help drive process improvements across manufacturing and transactional processes by designing, improving and implementing integrated systems of people, materials and equipment. The role applies engineering analysis and design principles to specify, predict and evaluate the results of those systems.
What You Will Do
- Work directly with production floor employees, including operators, inspectors, quality staff and test technicians, to resolve day-to-day issues and lead longer-term projects that eliminate recurring problems.
- Analyze layout, flow, build, testing, troubleshooting, repair and modification of electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems and systems.
- Design, control and improve manufacturing processes and system designs with the value stream team.
- Take part in all phases of the product life cycle and advanced manufacturing initiatives, from production implementation through customer and supply chain support.
What You Will Learn
- Work side by side with Manufacturing Engineers and other engineering functions to gain hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
- Learn to resolve manufacturing issues involving safety, ergonomics, quality, flow and cost.
- Build the ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams on daily tasks and projects.
- Develop time management and prioritization skills needed in manufacturing engineering.
- Learn to plan the sequence of operations, manufacturing documents, standard work and product routings.
