Structural/Thermal Engineering Intern

The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department ensures structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon product portfolio. The team supports work from preliminary concepts through fielded weapon-system support, using classical and empirical techniques, state-of-the-art finite element methods with industry-leading commercial tools, and testing to confirm cost-effective, technically sound solutions.

As an intern, you will work one on one with a senior engineer on the same structural and thermal analysis tasks given to entry-level engineers. You will perform analyses and/or tests, take part in peer reviews, and produce final documentation.

What You Will Do

• Derive mechanical and thermal loads and environments
• Perform hand calculations for higher order detailed analysis
• Conduct detailed structural or thermal analyses to solve challenging problems
• Perform peer reviews to validate analysis processes and results
• Present results to customers
• Generate detailed, archival technical reports

What You Will Learn

You will learn how to work as part of an Integrated Product Team, collaborating with multiple engineering disciplines on complex technical challenges.

You will also see how structural and thermal engineering is carried out in an innovative industry setting, with department-sponsored training and mentoring from senior staff.
