A Career with Point72's Market Intelligence Team

Market Intelligence is Point72's proprietary research team. As a member, you will support Canvas team members as they work with our investment professionals and Compliance team to uncover insights about companies, industries, and the broader economy. The work combines deep fundamental research with data science and engineering techniques applied to alternative data sets, alongside a talented team with diverse skills, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Canvas is the supply chain research group within Market Intelligence. The group conducts compliant supply chain research by building deep industry expertise, speaking with private company executives, and synthesizing information for portfolio managers and analysts. The team produces research meant to change the way you look at the world.

About the Fundamental Researcher Internship

As a Canvas Fundamental Researcher, you will speak with some of the most successful private company executives and learn about the businesses they have built, from grocery stores to tires to semiconductors. The team turns findings into comprehensive reports used by our investment professionals. Other Market Intelligence divisions use quantitative research to explain what is happening in an industry, while qualitative research from Canvas helps explain why it is happening.

During the 10-week program based in our New York office, you will gain exposure to:

• How Canvas builds subject matter expertise across a range of industries
• Gathering insights from small, medium, and large private company executives about their businesses and industries, including real-time changes in supply and demand, emerging competitors, markets, and technologies
• Synthesizing research findings into daily summaries and comprehensive reports
• Business leaders across industries, collaboration with Canvas colleagues, and how Canvas research supports more informed investment decisions

What's Required

• Bachelor's degree expected between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028
• Demonstrated academic success and strong analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• An eagerness to test whether your conclusions are right or wrong
• An interest in learning how companies work (processes and outcomes)
• Intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, and professional maturity
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards
