Atlanta Hiring Data Center Technician Intern

Microsoft's Datacenter Technician (DCT) Intern role sits within Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), the team that powers Microsoft's cloud services. The intern will help deliver core infrastructure for online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive and Microsoft Azure.

CO+I supports personal and professional growth through Career Rotation Programs, Diversity & Inclusion trainings and events, and professional certifications. The global infrastructure includes more than 100 datacenters and 1 million servers, supporting over 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in more than 90 countries.

Environmental sustainability and efficient operations shape how these datacenters are designed and run.

Responsibilities

• Support deployment of on-site datacenter physical infrastructure
• Install, replace and troubleshoot cables and hardware
• Handle data-bearing devices such as hard drives and solid state drives
• Work within a ticket-based environment
• Move equipment using pallet jacks or other assisted lifting equipment
• As required, assist the Datacenter Inventory and Asset Management Team (DIAT) with shipping, receiving and inventory management during high work volumes

Preferred Qualifications

• Applicable certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+) or Basic Structure Cabling (BSC)
• Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting and working at heights, with or without equipment assistance
• Able to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
• Proficient in written and oral English to support regional and global teams
• Desire to learn, grow and develop new technical skills
• Flexibility to work non-standard hours, which may include weekends and holidays

Other Requirements

Ability to pass Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening is required. This includes the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire or transfer and every two years after.
