Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all. Micron Technology is a global leader in memory and storage solutions that speed up the transformation of information into intelligence.
The SSD Hardware Engineering team builds next-generation storage solutions for data centers, AI infrastructure, client computing, and intelligent edge applications. The team works across hardware, firmware, validation, manufacturing, and system engineering, delivering high-performance, reliable SSD products with advanced design methods, automation, and AI-enabled engineering tools.
As an SSD Hardware Engineering Intern, you will support the design, validation, characterization, and debug of next-generation SSD products. You will gain hands-on experience with high-speed hardware design, PCB development, signal integrity, power integrity, board bring-up, and hardware validation while working with cross-functional engineering teams on complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, validation, characterization, and debug of SSD hardware platforms and subsystems.
- Assist with schematic reviews, PCB design activities, board bring-up, electrical measurements, and lab-based hardware testing.
- Collect, analyze, and document validation results to support product quality and performance goals.
- Support signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and system-level analysis through simulation, measurement, and correlation work.
- Develop automation tools, scripts, dashboards, and AI-assisted workflows that improve engineering productivity, validation efficiency, and technical decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
- 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research, academic projects, lab work, or engineering roles in hardware design, electronics, embedded systems, storage systems, or related fields.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of circuit analysis, digital electronics, PCB design fundamentals, and electronic components.
- Familiarity with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, USB, Ethernet, or similar technologies.
- Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, transmission lines, or high-speed digital design concepts.
- Experience building electronic circuits or using PCB design tools through coursework, academic projects, research, or internships.
- Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, or similar test equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, technical analysis, documentation, and engineering workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Coursework, research, or project experience in high-speed digital design, hardware validation, or board-level development.
- Knowledge of SSD architecture, NAND flash memory, storage systems, embedded systems, or data center technologies.
- Experience with board-level debugging, failure analysis, and root-cause investigation.
- Familiarity with SI/PI simulation and analysis tools such as HyperLynx, ADS, Sigrity, HFSS, or equivalent.
- Experience using Python, MATLAB, Tcl, or similar languages for automation, testing, and data analysis.
- Experience applying AI-assisted engineering tools, workflow automation, or data-driven analysis techniques.
- Previous internship, research, or project experience in hardware development, validation, or electronic system design.
