Overview

Fab Equipment Maintenance Technician Intern

Micron Technology Virginia is looking for enthusiastic interns to join its research and development fabrication facility in Manassas. This is one of the most advanced fabs in the world, with process areas including Wet Etch, Dry Etch, Diffusion, Photolithography, Metrology, RDA, PCVD, CMP, Implantation, and Probe.

You must be enrolled in an AAS/Certificate Program in Mechatronics, Robotics, Engineering Technology, or a related field of study.

As a Fab Equipment Maintenance Technician Intern, you will build a basic understanding of semiconductor fabrication. You will work with equipment used in the clean room to manufacture Micron's memory solutions. Interns receive on-the-job training in safety and cleanroom protocols, preventative and corrective maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and ongoing improvement programs. You will also have the chance to work with cross-functional sub-teams to evaluate ways to improve equipment maintenance and repair efficiency.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Complete required safety training and conduct all work in accordance with safety policies.
  • Receive on-the-job training for preventative and corrective maintenance on semiconductor equipment.
  • Receive training and take part in area continuous improvement programs.
  • Partner with operations technicians and shift engineers/technicians to complete daily priorities that improve learning cycles.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for equipment-related problems and address root causes.
  • Improve equipment availability by investigating chronic tool problems and finding solutions.
  • Maintain documentation on tool status, including observations and work performed.
  • Perform and facilitate audits and submit good catches on safety and quality issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or Instrumentation and Automation programs.
  • Mechanical proficiency with the ability to understand and troubleshoot mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuits and basic electrical fundamentals.
  • Intermediate PC skills.
  • Using Artificial Intelligence.

Internship Information

  • Onsite paid internship with 12-hour shifts.
  • Relocation support and subsidized housing are available.
  • Travel costs are covered for onsite travel.

Internship starts Summer 2027 for Boise/Manassas. Start dates in 2027 run from May 17th to June 14th, with end dates between August 6th and September 3rd.
