Mechanical Engineering Intern - Tooling

Your Role

We are looking for a College Intern interested in becoming a Tool Design Engineer (Injection Molding) to join our Connection Systems North America (CS NA) team within our Signal & Power Solutions segment. This is a chance to contribute to the design and development of Plastic Injection Mold Tools for the automotive industry.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and develop cutting-edge injection mold tools to support production of critical automotive plastic components.
• Drive continuous improvement by optimizing existing tools to reduce waste, improve uptime, and enhance overall efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering on new product development, from concept to production.
• Partner with internal tool suppliers for tool design and build activities.
• Share and learn best practices with Aptiv's global teams.

Your Background

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Tooling Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD, ideally Unigraphics 3DNX.
• Strong understanding of close tolerance tools and measuring devices.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
• Ability to interpret tool and part prints, perform measurements, and conduct experiments.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
• Adaptability to rapidly changing environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of an organization.
• Strong presence and communication skills.
