Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Internal Communications Co-op to join our Corporate Communications team. Our internal communications team supports the business through global communications that keep Heart Recovery employees informed, connected and engaged across regions. This role offers hands-on experience creating employee-facing content, managing communications channels and supporting campaigns that connect employees to our patients, people, innovations and culture. The intern will work directly with the senior manager of global internal communications to help plan, create, publish and track timely, clear and engaging communications.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the internal communications content calendar and track upcoming stories, campaigns, events, deadlines, approvals and publishing dates.
- Support the planning, coordination and production of the biweekly global newsletter, including gathering content, drafting and editing copy, preparing content for translation and coordinating regional versions.
- Draft, edit and publish employee-facing content for J&J Home, including patient impact stories, employee and manufacturing spotlights, culture initiatives, business updates and event recaps.
- Create and schedule Viva Engage posts and other short-form content that promotes key stories, campaigns, events and employee resources.
- Design digital screen content and other simple visual assets to support global campaigns, events, announcements and site communications.
- Edit, format, publish and track People News announcements in partnership with managers and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with colleagues and partners across functions and regions to gather information, incorporate feedback, secure approvals and support timely distribution.
- Help ensure content is clear, concise, employee-friendly, aligned with AP style and consistent with J&J and Heart Recovery messaging.
- Support communications campaigns and special projects, including employee engagement, culture, patient advocacy, learning and organizational initiatives.
- Track channel activity and engagement, organize communications materials and contribute to reports and recommendations that improve future content.
Qualifications:
- Student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, business, organizational studies or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise and engaging employee communications.
- Strong attention to detail, organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with AP style or a willingness to learn and apply it consistently.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Experience with or interest in learning digital communications platforms such as SharePoint, Viva Engage, email marketing tools and digital signage systems.
- Basic visual design skills and experience using Canva, PowerPoint or similar tools to create polished communications assets.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues across functions, levels and global regions and to incorporate feedback professionally.
- Sound judgment and discretion when handling internal, confidential or time-sensitive information.
- Self-motivated, curious and comfortable taking initiative, asking questions and working both independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in healthcare, MedTech, employee communications, organizational culture and storytelling that connects employees' work to patient impact.
- Previous internship, campus leadership, writing, editorial, marketing, social media or communications experience preferred.
