Intern - AWS PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Labcorp is seeking an AWS PostgreSQL Database Administrator Intern to join our Enterprise Infrastructure team located in Durham, NC with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and on-premises PostgreSQL databases.
• Support database performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization activities.
• Participate in database provisioning, backup, recovery, patching, and upgrade tasks.
• Assist with troubleshooting database-related issues and resolving incidents under the guidance of senior DBAs.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for database administration and operational processes.
• Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives using Terraform.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to support deployment automation using UrbanCode Deploy (UCD).
• Work with Bitbucket repositories for source code management, version control, and collaborative development.
• Assist in implementing database monitoring, alerting, and operational best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or Information Systems.

Additional Job Standards

• Document processes, procedures, and technical solutions.
• Participate in database migration and cloud modernization projects.

• Duration: 12 weeks, full-time
• Dates of Internship: May 24, 2027 - August 13, 2027
• Compensation: Paid internship; relocation assistance available for qualified candidates
• Eligibility: Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.
