At IBM Quantum, we build utility scale (> 100 qubit) quantum computer systems comprised of superconducting qubits cooled to 10mK in dilution refrigerators and controlled by microwave pulses produced from advanced racks of room temperature electronics. Our team at IBM Quantum working on building, deploying, and calibrating these systems is looking for a summer intern on our subteam working on system assembly and test.

In this role, you will help build out our quantum systems by assembling mechanical and wiring components inside the dilution refrigerator. You will help test and troubleshoot those installations and perform investigative studies on methodologies to improve our assemblies.

Required Expertise

• Studies in EE, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
• Proficient in electrical test and design of experiments
• Programming knowledge for test automation
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems
• Desire/interest to work in the field of system assembling and validation

Preferred Expertise

• General knowledge of microwave circuits, including components and test equipment
• Understanding of circuit design principles
• Knowledge of Python and Linux shell
• Experience with cryogenic systems
