Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is a recognized designer and manufacturer of precision engagement aerospace and defense systems for the U.S. and allied militaries, as well as products for the civil nuclear power industry.

MFC is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer Intern in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will develop and maintain embedded software applications and/or desktop applications, handling requirements, design, code, test, and integration for an embedded multi-core system and desktop applications for sensor and countermeasure emulation. A strong grasp of object-oriented C++ and experience with Linux OS are required.

US citizenship and the ability to obtain a clearance at the specified level are required. You may also need approval to work on Special Access Programs (SAP) before starting.

What You Will Be Doing

• Develop embedded software including drivers, state machines, and multi-threaded applications.
• Integrate complex algorithms into C++ applications.
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug software for logical and mathematical solutions, as well as software controlling tactical hardware.
• Apply knowledge of computer hardware and software, using Artificial Intelligence responsibly per Lockheed, contractual, and governmental policies to speed up documentation, development, and functional tests.
• Contribute to detailed design architectures, keeping architecture and source code aligned.

Basic Qualifications

• Demonstrated software development experience in C++
• Ability to obtain DoD Clearance
• Must be US Citizen
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related software discipline

Desired Skills

• Experience with operating systems or familiarity with OS concepts (Linux, Windows, Unix, VxWorks, or OS coursework)
• Hardware experience (Arduino, STMxx, Xilinx, or any FPGA programmable software)
• Strong understanding of C++ object-oriented design and inheritance
• Understanding of basic multi-threading concepts
• Working with large code bases
• DevSecOps tool chain experience (Git, GitHub, BitBucket)
• Software configuration management
• Full software life-cycle development
• Software integration and debugging techniques
• Demonstrated software development experience in C or Python
• Familiarity with Agile practices
• Prior embedded internships are a bonus but not required

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $26.81 - $30.97 per hour.
