Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer Intern in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will develop and maintain embedded software applications and/or desktop applications. Tasks will involve requirements, design, code, testing, and integrating software for an embedded multi-core system as well as desktop computer applications for emulation of sensors and countermeasures. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of object-oriented C++ concepts and experience with Linux OS.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and will need a clearance at the level specified in the Clearance Level section or the ability to obtain one if not specified. Additionally, the candidate may need to be approved to work on a Special Access Program (SAP) prior to start of employment.

What You Will Be Doing

As an Embedded Software Engineer Intern, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Develop Embedded Software including drivers, state machines, multi-threaded applications, etc.
• Integrate complex algorithms into C++ applications.
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug software for logical and mathematical solutions as well as software for controlling tactical hardware.
• Apply knowledge of computer hardware and software, while referencing Artificial Intelligence responsibly in accordance with Lockheed, contractual, and governmental policies to accelerate documentation, development, and functional tests.
• Contribute to detailed design architectures, ensuring architecture and source code remain in alignment.

Basic Qualifications

• Demonstrated software development experience in C++.
• Ability to obtain DoD Clearance.
• Must be US Citizen.
• Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related software discipline.

Desired Skills

• Experience working with operating systems or familiarity with OS concepts, including Linux, Windows, Unix, VxWorks, or Operating Systems Coursework.
• Hardware experience (Arduino, STMxx, Xilinx, any FPGA Programmable Software).
• Strong understanding of C++ Object Oriented design and inheritance concepts.
• Understanding of basic multi-threading concepts.
• Working with large code base.
• DevSecOps tool chain experience (may include Git, GitHub, BitBucket).
• Software configuration management.
• Full software life-cycle development.
• Software integration and debugging techniques.
• Demonstrated software development experience in C / Python.
• Familiarity with Agile practices.

Pay Information

Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
