Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer Intern in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will develop and maintain embedded software applications and/or desktop applications. Tasks will involve requirements, design, coding, testing, and integrating software for an embedded multi-core system, as well as desktop computer applications for emulation of sensors and countermeasures. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of object-oriented C++ concepts and experience with Linux OS.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and will need a clearance at the level specified in the Clearance Level section, or the ability to obtain one if not specified. Additionally, candidates may need approval to work on a Special Access Program (SAP) before starting employment.

What You Will Be Doing

As an Embedded Software Engineer Intern, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Develop embedded software, including drivers, state machines, and multi-threaded applications.
• Integrate complex algorithms into C++ applications.
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug software for logical and mathematical solutions, as well as software for controlling tactical hardware.
• Apply knowledge of computer hardware and software, and use Artificial Intelligence responsibly in line with Lockheed, contractual, and governmental policies to accelerate documentation, development, and functional tests.
• Contribute to detailed design architectures, ensuring architecture and source code stay aligned.

Basic Qualifications

• Demonstrated software development experience in C++
• Ability to obtain DoD Clearance
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related software discipline

Desired Skills

• Experience with operating systems or familiarity with OS concepts (e.g., Linux, Windows, Unix, VxWorks, Operating Systems coursework)
• Hardware experience (Arduino, STMxx, Xilinx, or any FPGA programmable software)
• Strong understanding of C++ object-oriented design and inheritance concepts
• Understanding of basic multi-threading concepts
• Experience working with large code bases
• DevSecOps tool chain experience (e.g., Git, GitHub, BitBucket)
• Software configuration management
• Full software life-cycle development
• Software integration and debugging techniques
• Demonstrated software development experience in C or Python
• Familiarity with Agile practices

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $26.81 - $30.97 per hour. At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people. • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year, tied to performance metrics.
• For Washington state applicants only: Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours per month of paid time off (PTO) and receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of vacation per month, up to 52 hours of sick leave annually, and receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
